Summary

The responsibilities of the OT Network Consultant I encompass designing, implementing, monitoring, and supervising both local and wide-area OT networks. The main goal is to guarantee maximum operational uptime. Duties include creating system configurations, documenting and overseeing new network installations, and maintaining as well as enhancing existing systems as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following are essential duties and responsibilities required by the position:

  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
  • Shadow Senior Network Engineers towards developing project design and lead solution implementation
  • Lead network operations responsibilities
  • Responsible for 2nd & 3rd level support
  • Responsible for Network uptime. Ensure proper monitoring in place
  • Supports assigned networking products by maintaining appropriate levels of hardware and software as dictated by the environment in which they operate (e.g., router microcode level and image type)
  • Installs and configures products for which responsible
  • Assists other engineers in troubleshooting problems relating to products for which responsible
  • Monitors data relating to the status of products within the network (e.g., circuit utilization)
  • Shadow higher level engineers with problems or configuration issues relating to products for which responsible (e.g., responding to and closing help desk tickets)
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problems and outages
  • Analyze traffic behaviors to great extent and find out the issues and solve it
  • Conduct performance analysis, proper planning and testing as needed
  • Collaborate with network architects to optimize system performance
  • Engage in data network fault investigations

Education & Experience

The following background is required. Human Resources and the hiring manager will determine what qualifies as related experience or appropriate combination of education and experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • CCNP or equivalent Certification required
  • Must be working towards achieving CCIE
  • 3-6 years of hands-on experience with Network devices Routers, Switches, Firewalls etc

Additional experience is required with the following:

  • In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF)
  • Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g. Python, Perl)
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
  • Knowledge of Oil & Gas operations Preferred
  • Technical knowledge and efficient troubleshooting capabilities in relevant IT infrastructure/architectures

Hours

This position requires the candidate to be on-call for support.
